With our daily email messages of comfort and hope, you will feel the support of knowing we are here to walk with you through this inevitable journey of grief. Each email will include advice, stories and other thoughts to help you address the challenges that come when you experience the loss of a loved one.
Joseph M. Mullenbach has been serving Brooke County residents for over 30 years in the funeral service industry. He is very committed to helping families in their times of grief. He attended West Liberty University and is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Joseph and his wife Susan are owners of the funeral home and are truly grateful and honored for the privilege to serve all families.
He is very active in the community, has served on the Brooke Hills Park Board from 2013-2018 and past president from 2016-18, and he is also past president and member of the Lions Club also chairman of the reverse raffle, 25 year member of the Kiwanis Club and chairman of the Chicken Barbecue and the luminary chairman, currently serving on the Wellsburg Chamber of Commerce Board and immediate past Vice-President from 2017-18, and currently serves on the St. John's Church Finance Council, and sits on the Municipal Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors. Additionally, he is a member of the Franklin and Brooke Cemetery Boards.
Over the last eleven years since starting the Mullenbach Funeral Home we have partnered in monetary donations with Brooke High School, Brooke High School Athletics, Brooke High School Scholarships, the Brooke County Relay For Life as a sponsor, the Wellsburg Colts and Baseball Associations, along with many area youth programs. We were very proud to have organized flood relief donations and deliver them to flood victims in the lower regions of West Virginia in 2017 and then later that year to the flood victims in Follansbee, WV.
We were awarded through the Follansbee Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year for 2014.
Joe and Susan have two children, Jeremy and Halle Virgin.
Kayla A. Beatty, a Follansbee resident, graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where she obtained her Certified Crematory Operator Certificate and an Associate in Specialized Technology Degree. Kayla is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, and she is also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, finding new adventures, attending church, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. We welcome Kayla to our team of caring individuals who serve our community through the Mullenbach Funeral Home.
Cody R. Rice has been a member of our staff since 2013. He graduated from Brooke High School in 2011 and went on to attend West Liberty University, obtaining his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He graduated in 2017 from the Pittsburgh Institue of Mortuary Science where he received the Champion Award for high academic and mortuary science excellence and also received his Certified Crematory Operator certificate. He is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Cody spends his free time volunteering as a member of the Franklin Community Volunteer Fire department, is a licensed EMT, and is a member of the Wellsburg 4th of July Committee and the Lions Club. We are excited to have Cody as our newest full-time, licensed director.
Susan is married to Joseph M. Mullenbach and is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She has spent the last 15 years in the logistics systems sector for Walmart. In January of 2018 Susan was displaced from Walmart as mounting staff changes forced over 500 employees to scramble for jobs at the home office that weren't being refilled, she rebounded and has worked for Cigna Health in Robinson Township as a customer care coordinator on the pharmacy side of Cigna since June of 2018. She has assisted her husband since the funeral home's inception and continues to provide sincere care and compassion to all families during their times of need. She also assists behind the scenes doing office work and attending many local functions with her husband, Joe.
Susie is Joseph's mother. She has helped at the funeral home since its beginning over 10 years ago. She is very dedicated to helping meet the needs of our families. She has worked as a nurse and was Director of Nursing at Brightwood Nursing Home for over 20 years. She is a life-long resident of Wellsburg and is the wife of the late Michael Mullenbach whom she loved dearly. She has 3 children: Joseph, Robert, and Patricia, and 6 grandchildren.
